I have an awesome DIY to make your shower session even more fun! I’ve been getting crafty and I went and made my own Lush shower jellies. I never expected that making a shower jelly yourself was so easy and I expect you to already have most of the ingredients to make it in the kitchen and bathroom! It’s superb to make for yourself, but of course also extremely fun to give to somebody as a present
You can go many ways with this shower jelly recipe. In this recipe I’m reusing a shower gel that already has color and scent. You can do the same and use your favorite shower gel or you can use a neutral shower gel and add color, essential oil, scent and maybe even glitter if you’d like. If you want to make a vegan shower jelly, without gelatin, you can use Agar (Agar is a vegan substitute for Gelatin). There’s endless possibilities to use this DIY recipe and you can make it your own!
What do you need for the DIY shower jelly?
- 1 cup/230ml water
- 1 cup/230ml shower gel
- a teaspoon of salt
- 5 sheets of gelatine or 2 sachets/2 tablespoons gelatine powder
- a mold or containers for your shower jelly
- color, fragrance & glitter (optional)
How to make the jellies
Step 1: Soak the gelatin sheets in a bowl of cold water for 5 minutes. This makes the gelatin sheets soft to a jelly texture.
Step 2: Boil your 1 cup of water.
Step 3: Meanwhile, drain the cold water from the bowl with the gelatin. Now you will remain with 5-jelly-like gelatin sheets in the bowl. Pour 1 cup of water on the soft gelatine leaves and stir well.
Step 4: Add 1 cup of your chosen shower gel along with a teaspoon of salt and stir well. If you want to add color, fragrance, essential oil or glitter, you can do that now.
Step 5: Pour the mixture into your mold, put it in the fridge overnight and your jellies are ready! It couldn’t be easier!
How to use your shower jellies
Okay, the jellies are ready and you can’t wait to play with them in the shower, but how do you use such a jelly? Simple, take a jelly (or a piece of it) between your hands and rub it gently until foam forms and than rub on your body. Beware it can be slippery! Before you know it, the jelly slips out of your hand and slides through the shower! Be warned: even though the jellies look very tasty, they are not meant to eat!
To wrap it all up: take a shower with your jelly and have fun! The jellies are easy to make and work very well. Make yourself a colorful batch and enjoy it! It is also great fun to try this DIY with the little ones! Hopefully you liked this DIY. I would love to make more jellies soon!
